Les implants classiques ne sont pas appropri\u00e9s dans les cas d\u2019une atrophie osseuse. Dans certains cas, il y a une indication de soul\u00e8vement et d\u2019augmentation des sinus, ce qui \u00e0 son tour prolonge et aggrave la proc\u00e9dure. Ainsi, le traitement lui-m\u00eame peut durer plus d\u2019un an. Apr\u00e8s la mise en place de l\u2019implant dans la m\u00e2choire sup\u00e9rieure, il faut attendre 6 mois et environ 3 mois pour la m\u00e2choire inf\u00e9rieure. L\u2019\u00e9tape suivante est la divulgation de l\u2019implant dentaire. Une bonne hygi\u00e8ne buccale et des examens prophylactiques r\u00e9guliers sont requis.
